I sat alone at the kitchen table, the acrid scent of burnt toast still lingering in the air. Outside, the rain drew long, patient threads across the windowpane. In that moment, a raven settled on the windowsill.
It looked over at me—without resentment, without kindness, only with a gaze that felt like weary understanding.
“When if, then when,” said the raven.
I did not reply.
I didn’t know how.
PIANODANCES is a distinctive duo-company that brings together the expressive power of contemporary dance and the full artistic force of classical piano. Founded in 2025 at the Underground lX-Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch- by dancer Julie Anne Stanzak and pianist Maki Hayashida, the company creates immersive performances that establish a vivid and precise dialogue between movement and music.
Marked by exceptional artistic presence and virtuosity, the dance is shaped by clarity, depth, and intensity—while the piano unfolds far beyond refinement and elegance, emerging as a powerful, driving voice on stage.
